The tour will first take you to Paradeplatz, where the major Swiss banks nestle side by side with luxury hotels and the famous chocolatier Sprüngli. Proceeding along Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s most beautiful shopping area, we will enter the old town and explore its winding streets.
We will then visit some of the city’s most irresistible sweet corners, including traditional confectionaries and artisan chocolatiers. You will learn about the history of Swiss chocolate and find out about each chocolatier’s specialties. The tour will conclude with a connoisseur tasting session, where we will explain how to taste and pair chocolate.
Leaving the hotel, we will turn into Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s stylish shopping area with its boutiques, jewellers, cafes and restaurants. From here we continue our walk towards Lindenhof with its beautiful view of the Limmat river, where Zurich’s citizens swore their oath to the Swiss constitution in 1798.
We will then walk past St. Peter Kirche and see Europe’s biggest church clock. We will continue past the Renaissance Rathaus (Town Hall) and into the narrow winding lanes of Niederdorf towards Grossmüster Church, completed in 1220 as a Romanesque church; its neo-Gothic double towers – built in 1781–87 which can be climbed – offer spectacular views over Zurich. On the opposite side of the river we can see the Fraumünster Church, an influential Benedictine abbey founded in 853 AD by King Louis the German. The church has beautiful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Augusto Giacometti.
We will then continue towards Paradeplatz with its Swiss banks and luxury hotels.
Enjoy a morning visit to the Clavaderalp cheese factory situated at 2,028 m above sea level, and see how the famous alp cheese is hand made. The guided tour includes a commentary of the traditional manufacturing process and a wonderful cheese tasting afterwards.
An alpine lunch will be served while you enjoy spectacular views across the panoramic vista.
To start this panoramic hike you take the mountain railway up to an altitude of 2,053 meters and walk the 6.5km to the Sertig Valley, a typical glacial valley with terraces and ledges. This is an easy hike with a change in altitude of 200m.
Then you reach the Walserhuus Restaurant in the lovely village of Sertig, surrounded by flower-filled meadows, dense forests and impressive peaks, where you will have a delicious mountain lunch. After lunch we will enjoy an easy walk of 1.4 km, uphill 100m to the waterfall which thunders down into the valley.
