Founded in the 13th Century on the banks of the River Spree, Berlin was for hundreds of years the capital city of the state of Brandenburg, then of Prussia, which grew finally under Bismarck to become the dominant state in the German Confederation. In 1871, when the creation of the German nation was proclaimed, Berlin became its capital.
A fascinating city, now restored to its original status following the interruption of forty years of partition under Russian occupation, Berlin has become once again the capital of a reunited Germany, and the effective political capital of Europe. Today’s Berlin is also a major cultural centre, well known for its museums, music and night life.
Our conference will follow the familiar three day format, starting with an opening session and reception on the evening of Sunday May 15, ending with a Gala Dinner on the evening of Wednesday, May 18. Our conference theme will be “Innovate to Thrive”, exploring the need to constantly review the sustainability of our traditional business models, against the background of rapid medical advance and rising consumer demands.
The conference will be held at the iconic Hotel Adlon, occupying a superb location where the Unter den Linden meets Pariser Platz, yards from the Brandenburg Gate. The Adlon has for the last 100 years (other than the years of Russian occupation) been a leading landmark and meeting place of choice of the city, hosting celebrities from all over the world. The hotel has been lovingly restored to its former glory, and is now managed by the renowned Kempinski chain.
